Immortalised in numerous wildlife documentaries, Botswana offers a truly amazing adventure holiday and some of the world's finest game viewing. In the midst of parched desert and semi-arid lands lies the Okavango Delta, a verdant oasis of sparkling waterways and clear lagoons that teem with life. From these wetlands, to the dunes of Sossusvlei, the harsh desert of the Kalahari and the spectacular Skeleton Coast, the opportunities for the adventurous traveller are wide and varied.

Botswana’s most iconic landscapes have to be the waterways of the Okavango Delta, the scrub of the Moremi National Park and the extensive Kalahari Desert. No longer do they have to be places you just heard about once upon a time in school or saw on wildlife documentaries with these top holidays in Botswana.
Once an exclusive destination, the country has opened up to adventure travel, allowing everyone to experience one of Africa’s greatest safari destinations. There are more elephants in Botswana than any other country and sightings of the Big Five are frequent. The wonderful habitats found here mean there are plenty of opportunities to spot a wide range of wildlife, including endangered wild dogs and an abundance of birdlife.
The best time to visit Botswana varies. In the dry season from May to October, wildlife is easier to spot as it generally concentrates around waterholes. Between September and October, the temperatures can be very hot. The busiest times in the parks are between July and October but they don’t ever feel crowded. During the wet season the scenery is greener and there will be the opportunity to see newborn animals, but wildlife is harder to spot as they are more spread out. Rain is generally kept to a short afternoon shower and the parks are much quieter.
